My Recent Purchase

I have been a antique enthusiast as long as I remember and a metal detectorist of 2 or 3 years now. Recently on eBay, I bought something that tickles my fancy in both subjects: this old deed. I bought this 1830 deed because it describes a piece of land on the Fisher River somewhere in my locale. I am hoping this old document can lead me to a treasure!(Or at least a coin or two) :-)
As of right now, I am trying to decipher the beautiful script of the early 19th century calligraphy. Their hand-writing fascinates me with all the little twirls and hooks. Only fountain and quill pens can make the lines have different thicknesses. Modern ball-points can only make same sized lines.

Found and Indian hiding among the Wheat

I went detecting up at the old house again today. This time, I ran across a 1902 Indian head penny. Pretty cool! I also found the normal wheaties.

A Wheatie-filled Day

I went metal detecting at an old house I have been hunting for the past month or so. I found 8 wheat pennies. I used a different setting on my metal detector, so that must have helped in finding them.

Trashed Votes

After looking over many of the major political forums, I have come to the conclusion that people are not going to vote their conscience because they say that they are going to throw away their votes. I have read many an entry that says they will not vote 3rd party because it will be a waste of their vote, so they are going to vote for either McCain or Obama. They would rather vote for the liar than vote for the person they know is right because they believe that the person cannot win. But, doesn't that defeat the purpose of even voting at all? If you do not vote your conscience, you are not voting for who you think should be president. If everyone would change their state of mind and realize if they would vote for the 3rd party choice they wanted, instead of one of the two major "lesser of two evils", we could have a 3rd party president and put this country back on the right track. People need to wake up to this and realize you can't throw a vote in the trash if you are voting you conscience and voting for what you think is right!

'Family Guy' links John McCain, Sarah Palin to Nazis?

The newest episode of "Family Guy" entitled "Road to Germany has to be my favorite episode yet. It had several parodies of my most favorite movie trilogy of all time, "Back to the Future." It also had some great political spoofs. Fox had to pull the clip of Stewie finding a McCain-Palin lapel pin on his stolen Nazi coat because it was considered "Copyright infringement." Below is the clip.

To view the LA Times blog about it, go here: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/thedishrag/2008/10/family-guy-link.html

Some Neat Relic Finds from Today

I went to one of my regular metal detecting spots today for a while. They finally cut and bailed the hay in front of the old house so I was able to metal detect that area for the first time. I came up with some neat, old relics along with a few wheat pennies(not pictured).

-The first item is an old key ring from the "St. James Hotel." This probably dates c.1880-1920.

-The second item is an old advertising tag that says " Compliments of J.A. Pulliam--The Jeweler--Mt. Airy, NC.

-The 3rd item is some sort of old, silver plated tag or what-not depicting a proposal or man proclaiming his love to a woman.

Your Other Choices...

Bob Barr (Libertarian)

Cynthia McKinney (Green Party)

Chuck Baldwin (Constitution Party)

Ralph Nader (Independant)

Ron Paul (Write-in)

The Lesser of Two Evils

Ahhh....the lesser of two evils. That is who voters are voting for and they know it! But, you do not have to vote for the lesser of the two evils because there are other candidates you can vote for who are actually decent! (Unbelivable isn't it!)

Why not vote fot one of these much better candidates?

-Chuck Baldwin- The Constitution Party Nominee

-Cynthia McKinney- The Green Party Nominee

-Bob Barr- The Libertarian Party Nominee

- Ralph Nader- Independant

Or, you could just write-in your choice. If I could vore in this election, I would write-in Ron Paul.

So, who would you vote for?

Bird is a Word

Th 1963 song "Surfin' Bird(Bird is a Word) " by The Trashmen is a strange, yet addicting song. If you have seen the most recent episode of Family Guy, "I dream of Jesus" you kow what I am talking about. To be honest, I cannot see how this song reached #4 on Billboards top 100 in 1963.

Tinky's Famous Hot Wings

I make these wings very often and my family and I love em'!

Here is what you will need:

-About 20-24 wings
-Canola Oil (Or any other sufficient frying oil will do. IE. Peanut, Vegetable, etc.)
-Seasoned Salt
-Chili Powder
-Texas Pete Hot Sauce
-Butter or Margarine
-Sugar

1) Thaw out wings if frozen. Liberally sprinkle with seasoned salt and Chili Powder and toss in a bowl, set aside in Fridge.

2)Heat about 3" of oil to 350-375 degrees F. This is easily accomplished in a Fry Daddy Deep Fryer.

3)Fry wings until golden brown and they float.

4)In a cup or small bowl, melt about 2 tablespoons of Butter/ margarine. Add about 5 tablespoons of Texas Pete and about 1 teaspoon of sugar(To taste).

5) After wings come out, put in a large bowl and toss in the sauce.

6) ENJOY!!!

This recipe can easily be manipulated to tickle your fancy.

A Bumper Sticker that Says it All (For me anyway)

This Bumper sticker says exactly what I feel. If only Obama's name was on there too!

Sugarland: "Already Gone"

Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush have did it again with their new single "Already Gone." The duo co-wrote the hit. The song talks about the willingness to take chances and risks for the benefit of life experiences. This is a beautiful song and is worth hearing. If you have not already heard the song, here is the link to the YouTube Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GK_bpCFvfik
